Fishing was great this past week with a lot of Crappie caught and a lot of good Bass caught.

Bass fishing is Good  and most Bass are shallow and some are starting to spawn and some are still cruising the banks. Lizards, Jigs, Spinner Baits and shallow running Crank Baits are catching fish

Crappie fishing is Great and they are being caught in many area's of the lake, a lot of Crappie are staging in the back of the creeks, getting ready to spawn over the next few weeks, some fish are shallow and spawning. Three mile creek is producing a lot of fish around the bridge. Mud Creek is also producing some fish shallow around the stumps flats, Yellow Creek and the power house lake are producing some fish shallow and deep.
The crappie are starting to move, going to their spawning area's, look for more fish to go shallow as the water warms more over the next few weeks.
Long line trolling with Jiffy Jigs in 1/16 oz and 1/24 oz in colors JJ08, JJ13,JJ17, JJ19, JJ25,JJ41,JJ42,  and Marks, Ice Blue color, is the way to catch these spring time fish,They can also be caught on a float and fly technique around docks and brush,  live minnows around docks and brush is also producing some fish. Shooting docks with jigs is starting to produce some good fishing also.

Striper fishing Poor and most of the fish have left the main lake making their spring run up the Coosa river, I have not had any reports on the upper Coosa river

Catfish are biting good in the deeper flats of the lake on cut bait.

Bass Fishing is GOOD and a lot of bass have moved shallow to secondary points and humps and docks and some rip rap banks. Crank baits and Carolina rigged soft plastics are catching fish. Spotted Bass are mostly on the points and humps, and most Large Mouth are being caught under docks and on rip rap banks on jigs and tube baits.

Crappie Fishing is GREAT and the crappie are really starting to bite, stringers of 50-60 keepers are being brought in, with a lot of under size fish being caught also. The Crappie will only get better over the next few weeks. The Crappie are on creek and river channel ledges and in the flats in 9-14 feet of water on brush and stumps. Spider rigging with live minnows is the way to catch these Crappie. A few Crappie are being caught shooting docks with jigs.

Striper Fishing is Fair and the smaller Stripers and White Bass are feeding on the surface in the flats all over the lake in the afternoons.

Catfish are biting good in the flats 8-15 feet deep on cut shad

Bass Fishing is Good and some Bass are still shallow , with all the rain keeping the water temperature down and high oxygen levels a lot of fish are staying shallow, they are on docks, sea walls and rip rap rock, some fish are still being caught in the grass early and late. Any where there is rain run off coming into the lake, is holding good Bass, Yellow Creek Falls and culverts, ect. Jigs, worms and shallow running crank baits and spinner baits are catching a lot of fish. A lot of fish are now being caught on the creek and river channel ledges 8-12 feet deep on crank baits, spinner baits and Carolina rigged plastics.  The Bass really seem to be scattered and on several different patterns, due to the cooler than normal water temperature.

Crappie Fishing is Good and the crappie are holding on brush, stumps and man made cover in the flats in 8-12 feet of water. The river and creek channel ledges are not producing any fish, due to the fast current. If the rain quits for an extended period look for a lot of Crappie to move to the ledges. Spider rigging with live minnows is the way to catch these summer time Crappie. Shooting docks with a 1/24 oz Jiffy Jig is still producing some Crappie. Crappie are still being caught around the docks and the night fishing is really good also. A lot of fish are holding on bridge pilings also, yellow Creek bridge, Cowan Creek bridge and Spring Creek bridge. Look for these patterns to hold over the summer.

Striper Fishing is Good and they are at the Cave Hole in Little River and Little Spring Creek and the Chattooga River. Live Shad down lined 8-10 feet deep and Shad on a flat line behind the boat is the way to catch these fish.

Catfish are biting good in the flats 8-20 feet deep on cut shad.

Bass Fishing is Good and they are on their winter pattern. Jigs, Drop Shot rigs and Carolina rigs are catching a lot of Bass. Little River is producing a lot of big Spotted Bass right now, on any part of the main River channel with large rocks.

Crappie Fishing is Good and the Crappie are starting to move into the bays and cove's. The Crappie are suspended 4-8 feet deep and even shallower in some coves. Long line trolling with 1/24 and 1/16 ounce Jiffy Jigs www.jiffyjigs.com in colors JJ01, JJ08, JJ13, JJ17, JJ24 and JJ33 is a great way to catch these suspended Crappie. A float and fly technique is also catching a lot of fish in these same area's. Little River, Little Spring Creek and the bays around Riverside Campground are starting to produce a lot of Crappie.

Striper Fishing is fair and they are starting to show up on the river and creek channel ledges in 8-16 feet of water, slow trolling live shad is always a good way to catch these fish, trolling a 1/4 once jig with a white 3-4 inch Sassy Shad body is also a good way to catch these winter stripers.

Bass Fishing is Good and a lot of bass in the main lake are moving to deeper water, to a winter pattern, some Bass are still being caught shallow in the upper Coosa River near Riverside Campground.
Shallow running crank baits and jigs are producing

Crappie Fishing is Great and this fall has  been awesome, with great catches coming in almost every day. The wind has been horrible this past week, but it is supposed to calm down this coming week. The Crappie are on the old Coosa river channel ledge from Cedar Bluff to Leesburg in 16-20 feet of water, any where there is stumps and brush.  The upper Coosa river channel around Riverside Camp Ground is starting to turn on also. Spider rigging with live minnows is the way to catch these fall Crappie. Shooting docks is producing very few Crappie this fall.  Night fishing with lights over structure with live minnows and vertical jigging over structure is really good also, right now.

Striper Fishing is Good and they have started showing up in the main lake in good numbers, they are in the main Coosa river channel, from Cedar Bluff to Leesburg in good numbers, down lining live Shad 8-12 feet deep, is a great way to catch these hungry fall Stripers.
Trolling with a 1/4 ounce Jig with a 3 to 4 inch Sassy Shad body at speeds around 1.5 mph, is also a good way to catch these aggressive fish.

Catfish are biting good in the flats 8-20 feet deep on cut shad.

The fishing is pretty slow right now on everything except Catfish, they are still biting good. All the fish are in their late summer patterns.
The lake has a lot of algae in it right now, and it is depleting the water of oxygen, which is making the fish very lethargic and making it a tough bite.
We need a good rain to put some oxygen back in the water, and it will turn the fish back on.

Bass fishing is Fair and they are being caught on deep brush 8 feet or more, under deeper docks, and on the creek and river channel ledges. Pig and Jigs, Crank Baits, Spinner Baits and Carolina rigged plastics are all producing some good Bass. Tournament weights have really dropped the last few weeks.

Crappie fishing is Fair they have moved back to deeper water. Spider rigging with live minnows on the creek and river channel ledges and deep brush in the flats, is the way to catch these summer Crappie. Shooting docks is  producing a few Crappie also. Night fishing has turned on over the last few weeks, and they are being caught on live minnows.

Striper fishing Fair and they are being caught in the lower Chattooga River, the Cave Hole and Little Spring Creek, on live Shad down lined about 8-10 feet deep and flat lined live Shad.

Catfish are biting good in the deeper flats of the lake on cut bait.
